Parish Council Meeting of 15th January 2015

Written by Anne Rayner.

The Parish Council meeting on 15th January 2015 was attended by Councillors Brian Frith, Beverley Humphreys, Claire Jordan, Jackie Bowers, Gilly Barnes and Clerk Anne Rayner.  Also present were PCSOs Jason Dack and Caroline Quinn,  District Councillor Bob McClenning, County Councillor Bev Spratt and five members of the public.

Some of the main items discussed at the meeting are mentioned here. Full minutes of the meeting are available here - in draft form until agreed by the Council at the next meeting (19th February 2015).

The Parish Council is to make a bid for “Parish Partnership” funding which would enable further road safety improvements near the school and the purchase of a moveable “speed awareness” sign.

Items discussed during the January meeting included the problem of dog fouling in the village. Although the majority of dog owners are responsible, it appears a minority continue to behave inconsiderately by refusing to clear up after their dog. There is really no excuse for this; please pick up after your dog and allow our village to remain a clean and safe environment for everyone.

It has been a testing time where road works are concerned, and particular problems have been experienced in some parts of the village because of inadequate signing and lack of prior warning of diversion routes. The parish council will continue to push for Highways to repair the damage to the roads and verges, caused by the various diversions.
